Have you thought about what aging actually is?
Is it a number?
Is it the state of your health?
How much of the physical side of aging is pre-programmed in your genetics?
Can aging be reversed?
I’ve discussed aging with many folks over the years and have also done a fair bit of research in the past.
My definition of aging is that it is purely just a number. Everything else about it is fully variable in my view.
Many people assume that there aging is pre-programmed into our biology
If you were to ask most folks they have the wrong understanding that aging is programmed into our biology. Kind of that our cells are programmed to age and then die.
This is almost entirely untrue.
There are many ‘theories’ like the ones in the image above, but NONE of them have been proven.
If you study biology you would see lots of studies that draw correlations of age to things like cell structure, tissue damage and worsening function of organs.
But what you will not see is some proven explanation of how it works. Because they don’t know how it works. They just see that there are these correlations.
They also, however, see that there are lots of exceptions. There can be people at 80 years old whose cells look healthier than that of a 20 year old.
And they scratch their heads when they look at this and conclude that it must be ‘genetics’.
But then if they applied some basic logic they’d realize that it is unlikely to be genetics because all of the generations of ancestors of these two individuals did not vary significantly in how they aged.
Are you getting my point?
This is why so many geniuses are working on longevity?
Ray Kurzweil is a guy that has been working on this whole longevity thing for a long time.
He is a futurist, inventor, and director of engineering at Google.
Kurzweil is well-known for his work in artificial intelligence and for his advocacy of radical life extension, with a particular focus on the concept of achieving immortality through advances in technology and biotechnology.
He believes that by understanding and intervening in the aging process, it will be possible to extend human life significantly, potentially even to the point of achieving indefinite lifespans.
There are many other geniuses working on other variations of this. Examples include Aubrey de Grey, David Sinclair, Peter Diamandis, and others.
Then you also can’t leave out Bryan Johnson of course. He is not a genius but given that he created and sold Braintree for $800m, I think it is safe to assume that he is a very smart guy.
Now the question to you is… would all of these very smart people be thinking that you can extend life considerably if aging was indeed programmed into us?
No! It would be obvious to them that that would be a waste of time.
It’s kind of like a genius saying that they’re going to prove that gravity doesn’t exist. When in fact there is plenty of cause & effect evidence that it does.
So geniuses don’t waste their time on that fruitless endeavor. LOL
Why then does the majority of the world associate aging to things that can happen at any age?
So if we can now assume that there is no biologically programmed aging process in humans than why do we all think that aging is associated to all of these bad things?
Our body changes for the worse, our skin gets worse, our hair thins and disappears, our cognitive and neurological function declines, we develop diseases like cancers, etc.
Well we draw this conclusion because of the ‘correlation’ of aging to these things.
But in my view there is another very important correlation in the middle that we are forgetting about. And that correlation is what happens to your teeth as you age.
As you get older you tend to grind down your teeth more, lose teeth, teeth move, etc.
And it is the degradation of the teeth that in my experience have the direct cause & effect relationship to all of these negative impacts that are associated to ‘aging’.
How do I know? Well because in 2014 I was able to trigger almost all of the negative consequences associated to aging at the age of 37 by simply having a dentist drill down the cusps of my teeth.
I tell this story in this article:
And the fact that I was able to reverse all these negative effects is further proof that it was in fact not the ‘age’ that had the direct relationship, but rather the dental height and biomechanics that stem from it.
So then what is aging in my view?
Aging is just a number.
But if you do not protect your teeth from degrading than aging WILL be directly correlated to all of the negative consequences that it is commonly associated to.
If instead you protect your teeth by adding some dental height and wearing a simple rubber mouthguard to sleep, than I am very confident that literally everyone can halt and even reverse the aging process.
I consider myself living proof.. and i’ve actually done this several times.
Also, I am very confident that when I am 80 years old.. I will function and even look as good as I did in my mid-30’s.
If I do not, than you can send this post and laugh at me. LOL
But if I do, than you will look at this post from your hospital bed and see me on the Internet looking like the man and think to yourself… “That crazy fucker was right. I should have listened to him.”
