Fitness buffs think injury is a 'right of passage' to being fit
I think that is stupid and in the future society will laugh at how stupid this is
Check this out on youtube…
…now onto the article.
When I was young I was pretty crazy about exercise and my diet. All through my 20’s and early 30’s.
In part because I was chubby as a kid and so I never wanted to go back to that.
But also because I just enjoyed looking fit.
And so I can understand the mindset of people that are crazy about exercise and fitness. My mother and her husband are examples of this.
They still exercise a couple hours a day despite the fact that they’re around 80 yrs old.
And one thing I hear these fitness buffs talk about a fair bit is how they will sometimes get injured. But they need to just view it as a ‘right of passage’ and after they heal, they gotta keep going.
David Goggins is a major proponent of this way of thinking.
I think this is absolutely stupid and today I will explain why.
What did I learn about how the body works?
Everytime I improved, including now, I saw how the entire body kind of remodels a little bit everyday.
The shape of your legs change.
Your shoulders move from being forward to sitting back naturally.
I went from not having an ass to having one again.
And while this happened muscles that I didn’t even know were in spasm started to release. Often painfully.
Sometimes they were not even muscles that i have voluntary control of. Like ones deep in my stomach.
What this clearly showed me was that before all of this happened, my body was completely mangled. It was like a tangled mess.
And what happens to a tangled mess when you apply force? Well just as with inanimate objects, the tangled mess gets worse.
And i’m very confident the same holds true of the human body.
Injury is your body pushing this tangled mess too far
Now assume for a minute that i’m correct and that potentially your body is a tangled mess. And that regardless of this fact you decide you are going to run and do all kinds of exercise on it for 1-2 hours per day.
You are gonna corrupt the structure more and more. Till at some point you will get injured, which is essentially your body telling you that you’re now pushing it to the point where it is going to remodel for the worse.
I’ve seen countless cases of this happening.
One person i know well pushed themselves for many years. Going to the gym 6-7x per week like a religion. Even if they were slightly injured.
And now their legs look weird and they can’t really sit up straight.
What did they fucking achieve? Nothing good.. I guarantee you.
They just wasted a shitload of time while making their health worse.
Meanwhile… as I sit on my ass these past four years… my legs start to look more and more like an athlete’s and my posture only improves.
I get stronger as I sit on my ass
Yes that is right. I make no attempt at exercise and I feel myself getting stronger and stronger.
Not long ago my wife dragged me out out to play padel tennis with a couple friends.
Everyone was close to a decade younger than me.
Everyone was exercising 4-5x a week or more. Doing all kinds of yoga and shit.
I had made no attempt to exercise in about four years. Literally like nothing. No going to the gym, no sports, etc etc
And so it was with a lot of resistance that my wife dragged me out onto the court.
But guess what happened… I kicked all of their asses. Hahahaha
I had never even played padel tennis before, but i had a decent foundation of playing tennis as a kid.
However it just felt smooth. I moved easily to the ball and hit it solid each time.
I didn’t fatigue. I didn’t feel sore afterwards.
My body in fact felt younger.
My body felt so much smoother than when I played normal tennis with a friend in early 2020.
I remember that day well as I played so horribly. I just couldn’t seem to hit anything correctly despite my best efforts.
Why? Because my whole body was mangled at the time.
But now while i was playing this padel tennis it was as if i couldn’t mess up. I just hit everything solid almost effortlessly.
What had changed?
My entire fucking spine! hahaha
It has corrected a lot.
So despite doing no exercise in four years.. i had essentially improved at tennis a shitload.
this holds true to my observations...athletes have these perfect straight legs with good tone. you rarely see a top performers with knocked knees
